E3 2018: 6 Major Improvements Each Company Must Make

5. Nintendo - Stop Teasing

Since 2011, big cheese game developer Nintendo has opted to move their presentation off-stage for the streaming event Nintendo Direct.

It is a more low-key and intimate presentation than the usual go-hard-or-go-home approach the other companies take. It was initially seen as an odd move but has worked in Nintendo's favour over time since the quirky and more welcoming angle works hand-in-hand with their company image.

Last year they were put in an interesting position though; the Switch had come out and redeemed the company in the console market, also Zelda: Breath Of The Wild cleaned up in sales and critical accolades to boot. Still, the company seemed to have very little along in the pipeline for their smoking new console.

So, while the conference got through hands-on time with Mario Odyssey, the rest of the show consisted of brief trailers and announcements for older third-party or Wii U ports coming to Switch.

What’s even more annoying is the two biggest announcements - Metroid Prime 4 and a Pokemon Switch RPG - were almost blink-and-you'll-miss-it quick.

One assumes with the Switch now a confirmed hit, they’ll have some more substantial reveals, footage and gameplay to show us this year - fingers crossed.
