E3 2018: 6 Major Improvements Each Company Must Make
4. Bethesda - Less Old Games
To be frank, this steller publisher had a bit of an iffy conference last year. Sure, they brought forth announcements of Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus - both sequels to excellent (and underrated) games - but their brief show was, for the rest, filled with talk about already released I.Ps.
Fallout 4 and Doom were getting VR versions, Elder Scrolls Online and Dishonoured 2 were getting DLC and Creation Club was another attempt to get people to pay for mods of Fallout and Elder Scrolls. Oh and let’s not forget Skyrim actually managed to get a mention as a new port of it was coming to the Switch.
It was a short show so at least the material wasn’t spread thin but unfortunately, it lacked those major heavy hitting announcements that displays Bethesda as the most exciting and unconventional publisher out there.
Certainly, ports and expansion of popular games are what keep their cash flow coming (and help under-selling titles like Wolfenstein and Evil Within actually get sequels) but that doesn’t mean it has to be the entire centrepiece at the expo.
Hell, at least let’s not mention Skyrim again - pretty please?
