With the thrills, spills and all-round headline-making chills of E3 2018 behind us, it's worth analysing the event and series of showcases to parse out what's really worth getting excited about, what's happening soon and what's way off on the horizon.
As for the latter, E3 tends to live and die on reveal trailers, logo debuts and the realisation of in-motion projects. They're all things that say to an audience, "This is exciting, feel free to get carried away on a wave of fan-fueled glee right now, but... this isn't going to be in your hands for a year or two."
This was certainly the case for Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, The Last of Us II and Jedi: Fallen Order, and such a delay is understandable to make sure hype equals profit come launch, but what of the games that either released during the show or will be with you far sooner?
Unravel TWO, Hollow Knight and Fortnite on Switch marked three titles that debuted trailers and are available right now, but as for the rest of 2018? It's going to be one hell of a year.
