Fallout 76: 10 New Gameplay Details You Need To Know

3. The Map Is Four Times Bigger Than Fallout 4's

Though Bethesda have always created large sandboxes, by the sounds of it Fallout 76's will be the biggest video game playground they've ever shipped, coming in at over four times the size of Fallout 4's Boston.

That said, bigger isn't always better, and a lot of Bethesda's open worlds are so memorable because they're not the biggest. Instead, it's how densely populated they are, always full of exciting things to do and see at every turn, that makes them so compelling. Fallout 76's map is going to be very different than that, with the expanses of West Virginia being home to far more open areas than ever.

Sure, there'll still be locations to uncover, but the whole aim of the game is rebuilding civilisation yourself, creating structures from scratch and building your own communities. Consequently, the map will be more of a canvas for your creativity than an immediately exciting theme park.
