Football gamers are incredibly lucky this year. Konami have finally recaptured the old magic, with PES 2013 offering an excellent football experience that is wholly different from its rival, while FIFA 13 looks set to improve on every aspect of FIFA 12, which is highly regarded as the best football game ever made. It’s currently the fastest selling game this year too, selling a whopping 1 million copies on release day.
Now that you have EA’s new title, you want to become the best yet again. However, FIFA 13 is different than its predecessor with new ways to play and new tricks to learn. While a mastery of new features such as First Touch Control and Complete Dribbling will add to your attacking arsenal, best results are still achieved by doing the simple things right.
So whether it’s against your mates in the weekly tournament, battling your way to Division 1 in Head to Head or building a dynasty that Alex Ferguson would be proud of in Ultimate Team, here are 7 of the best tips to help you dominate in FIFA 13.
7. Over The Top
One of the best ways to break down any team in FIFA 13 is hitting long through balls over the top for your striker to chase. Not only will you take the pressure off your midfielders and give them a chance to recover stamina, chances are 8/10 you will put your opponent under severe pressure. There are more loose balls than ever before with defenders taking heavy touches and deflections galore. Sometimes the defender will head it straight out to your AMF giving you a chance to shoot which might get you a corner or even a goal.
If you have a strong back line with dominant centre halves, you can shut down attacks quite easily, but the best part about over the top through balls is that they very rarely leave you exposed with the threat of a counter attack. If you have a good passer such as Pirlo or Wilshere, you can ping balls from the middle of the park all day long. Strong players are just as effective as speedsters if you can deliver the proper ball, with tall strikers such as Peter ‘Pumpkin’ Crouch a nightmare to defend against.

Great article! I’m ready to get back on the virtual pitch and play!
Thanks man! Both football games are good this year
Nice list, you could’ve also called it ” top 7 Fifa 13 exploits”, since all of them ( in the degree that they are being used succesfully) have nothing to do with any sort of ‘football simulation’
Ya true man, but I suppose it just the best way to be successful in FIFA 13. I didn’t say this way is enjoyable! I prefer a more creative way of play
The gameplay is far to quick and impatience. They’ve got it completely wrong and I can’t play for 5 minutes without switching it off. It need to relax and build the play up slower than what they do, which is so unrealistic and pathetic
shutup .
great article thanks! really frustrates your opponents and a lot, and easier to create chances :)
@Danny what are you talking about?
danny you can slow the game down if you keep possesion and pass well how can you say its unrealistic? top flight pro football is fast and aggressive thats why the prem is considered the best. maybe you need to customise your tactics if your having trouble dealing with the speed. ive had a lot of cracking goals from lobbed through balls but it doesnt always work depends on the speed of your strikers and the quality of your opponents defence. im finding early crosses are yielding more goals
prem considered the best? by whom?!!
The whole world
Jack Charlton would be proud. A load of lads now hoofing long balls up the middle in every game now. It’s terrible lads ruins the game leave it out and try something different maybe!
