6. Put 'Em Under Pressure
Defending is a major weak point in FIFA 13, so much so that you shouldn't really try and defend 1v1 at all. The trick is to defend as a unit, forcing your opponent to make mistakes. Attacking in the game is over power compared to the defensive tools at your disposal so it's important to pinpoint weaknesses and exploit them. Chances are, unless you are facing Barcelona or Manchester City, your opponent will have at least 1 or 2 less technical players who won't have as good tight control, leading to loose balls. The key is to isolate these players and put them under pressure using teammates and a combination of jockeying and standing tackles. For example, if playing against Arsenal, it will be much easier to dispossess Walcott rather than Arteta. If you time it right, you won't only win the ball, you'll also set up a counter attack. Slide tackling should be a last resort as the refs are card happy and if your defender is beaten, you leave so much space.
