FIFA 14: First Images & Gameplay Features Revealed

Check out the first ever images for FIFA 14, and more.

FIFA This is one of the first images taken from EA Sport's FIFA 14, which was officially announced today. As we reported yesterday, the American firm were expected to drop the first details regarding the latest in their long-running football franchise sometime today, and they did not disappoint. Along with 12 brand new stills, EA also revealed new gameplay features. These include improved tackling, enhanced passing and shooting of the ball, a revamped career mode with a fully-fledged scouting network and a string of new pre-match mini-games designed to hone your skills prior to kick-off. The biggest change to the series, which has been running since 1993, appears to be the tweaks made to career mode. There you will find that a brand new scouting network has been implemented, allowing you to step into the shoes of a professional scout, develop contacts, appraise any of the game€™s 15,000 licensed footballers based on their skills and manage transfers more effectively. The HUB in career mode is also much less cluttered, and easier to navigate. Another feature that is new to the series is the 'Pure Shot' mechanic, which allows players to shoot when off-balance and pull off rushed shots when under pressure, allowing for more unpredictable gameplay. Also, for the Didier Drogba's and Wayne Rooney's among you, physicality now plays a much more prominent role, with players able to use their brute strength to ward off defenders before unleashing a powerful drive at goal. Midfield battles have also been massively improved upon, and central players will no longer go missing when the opposition attack your goal. FIFA 14 has been announced for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and while a next-gen release announcement has yet to be made, it should not be ruled out as a possibility. That's all we have for now, but check back with us soon when we'll have more of the latest FIFA 14 news. In the meantime, check out the gallery of new screens below.
