Every four years the eye of the footballing world (and a horde of band-wagon jumpers who suddenly love soccer) is focused on the nation hosting the cup and we are often dazzled by the skill, dedication and resilience as players strive to win the biggest prize in the sport for their country. Though the World Cup is a platform through which players can create a legacy for themselves which will be remembered down the footballing generations, the sky-high expectations surrounding some of the players are sometimes not met. The glaring lights of the most all-important contest just prove too much and these highly touted players are unfortunately unable to deliver.
