8. James Rodríguez
James Rodríguez has had an interesting career. The Colombian made a name for himself at the 2014 World Cup and, once again, Real Madrid paid top-dollar for a young star based on a handful of performances.
Granted, Rodríguez had just moved from Porto, where he had an impressive return of 25 goals from 65 appearances for a midfielder, to Monaco. His run at Monaco, however, left a lot to be desired but Madrid wanted the good-looking 23-year-old who scored a worldie at the World Cup. After a few seasons of struggling to get play-time at Madrid, he requested a loan under Zinedine Zidane, and was shipped to Bayern Munich.
Rodríguez had a middling season on loan at Bayern Munich and it seems he will be heading back to Madrid to compete with the likes of Isco, Asensio and Casemiro for a spot, and he pales in comparison to them.
Undoubtedly Colombia's most important player at the 2018 World Cup, Rodríguez was forced to miss out on the final few games due to injury, bringing to an end his rather miserable year. James' star is fading and his FIFA rating should reflect that.
