GTA V: 10 Outlandish Rumours That Turned Out To Be Completely False

9. Albert de Silva

One of the first - and perhaps biggest - sources of rumours came from a supposed ex-Rockstar employee who leaked information to the media regarding the new game. There was a lot of discussion as to the legitimacy of these rumours, and still are - seeing as Rockstar has confirmed the map size, multiplayer clans similar to Max Payne, and the accessibility of aircraft. However customization of weapons and vehicles was not covered by Rockstar in their press releases, nor articles from any reliable source, and therefore is still up in the air. The first gem of information that was discussed by this "employee" is in regards to Albert de Silva, the ex-mobster from Vice City who moved to Los Santos to start a family. This is the only clearly incorrect rumour in the list - and there is one part in particular that proves this. Skeptics will argue that this is still credible, as de Silva seems to fit the general description of GTA V's confirmed protagonist (one of three), Michael. The ex gangster who moved to Los Santos to start a family, with a focus on the especially strange relationship with his son. However they seem to miss one aspect that Rockstar specifically covers debunking this rumour. Rockstar's games are set in three universes: the 2D universe, the 3D universe, and the High-Definition universe. The likes of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are set in the 3D universe while GTA IV (and its expansions) as well as GTA V are set in the high-def universe. Albert cannot come from a city that does not seem to exist in this universe. That being said, all of the details released from this "ex-employee" could have easily been developed solely from the first GTA V trailer. The ambiguity of the trailer - along with the rumours - could have simply been made up by a clever fan.
