GTA V: 10 Outlandish Rumours That Turned Out To Be Completely False

8. Co-Op Multiplayer

Fans went wild when they heard of the rumour that there would be a cooperative multiplayer feature of the game. Once it was confirmed that there would be multiple playable characters, the legitimacy of this rumour seemed even stronger. Rockstar started getting the questions, though. With several press releases, along with exclusive information from IGN and GameInformer, the hype was shut down. Rockstar confirmed that there would be multiplayer, but there would not be co-op multiplayer. This is not to say that there will not be cooperative game modes that require players to work with one another to get through missions like heists, but the original rumours specified a co-op story mode that allowed several players to work together in the roles of Michael, Franklin and Trevor to complete the story. That is what Rockstar debunked. We still do not know, however, the specifics of GTA V's multiplayer.
