Yesterday, Rockstar released three new GTA V screenshots. Not only did this make about 80% of gamer’s Monday worthwhile getting up for, but it also hints at some interesting nuggets of new info about the protagonist of the game. Rumours have been circulating about GTA V having multiple protagonists. Many were quick to call BS on this “leak”, myself included, but the new screens seem to hint at that.
In the new three screen shots, two characters are obviously highlighted. An African-American male, and a man in a suit very much resembling the “Ned Luke” character.
First, we’ll look over the shot above. The man on the bike is obviously dark skinned. It is highly possible that he is a random civilian, but the absense of any other NPC’s is a bit odd. If this man is THE protagonist, then many players were wrong is assuming Ned Luke is the main character. This man does resemble the figure of the man seen running from the police in the first trailer, and driving the red car.

I doubt those are the two protagonists getting out of the back of the van. This is a driving game at heart – you as the protagonist would probably be getting out of the front of the vehicle. The man on the far right has a hairline that also matches the that of the man who’s profile we see earlier in the trailer.
The Ned Luke guy does get out of the front.
Dan Houser (the writer of GTA games and co founder of Rockstar) said in an interview months ago that GTAV will be all about ‘choice’ choice like never before. So its very likely there will be a selection of main characters 2 choose from. Bit like GTAIV had Niko,Lopez,Jhonny the biker, but this time all the characters will be in the 1 game instead of extra episodes.
Actually, looking closer at the man on the bike it appears he is Caucasian. Just look at where the light hits the skin on the legs. He, as the man in the jet, appears dark skinned because of the way the light is hitting him. Regardless, the man in the jet has to be the protagonist. If he were just some random character, he wouldn’t be showcased in what’s probably the most important GTA: V image to date. Also, random story characters aren’t really seen using advanced vehicles, like military F/A-18 jets. More than likely, the man (rumoured to be named Albert DeSilva) in the trailer who moved to San Andreas “for the weather” is the protagonist, unless they do a multiple protagonist thing, but that’s not Rockstar Games’ style. And I also doubt that he’s Tommy Vercetti, brought back from Vice City, because why would someone move from Miami to Los Angeles for the weather? But, enough rambling. The Cheetah (the “H” in the name is blocked by the glare… not sure why people don’t get that), bikes, and fighter jets are returning to GTA: V. That’s a big selling point for me. Not to mention Ned Luke is going to make for the most badass protagonist ever. More to come this week… maybe we *will* finally get to know who the protagonist is. :D
You might be right there actually. Rockstar, keep teasing us!
The original GTA’s where more then one character ;)
this is as bad as online journalism gets. Total attention seeking headlines to bring people to read a rubbis over stretched article…
Actually, I didn’t write that headline. The editors must have.
“This man does resemble the figure of the man seen running from the police in the first trailer, and driving the red car”
The man running from the police and the guy in the red car are not the same person. One is African-American, the other is latino…
You may be right but I’m not so sure. They have similar skin tones and they are both clearly wearing a white tank top. Look at the shoulders of the red car screen shot.
The guy on the pushy looks white to me ay. I think he’s just a random npc, but the guy in the jets is most likely going to be the protagonist. Who ever the protagonist is I’m am deffinetly keen as to find out more news about the game. Already got my money put aside to buy it haha!
Shmyll out!!!
Hell yeah the jet guy is playable, no civilian casually flies jets.
And I pre-ordered the day BF3 came out, 12 hours after it’s announcement. I’m also pumped!
