We already know that Josh Trank is set to direct the much beloved gaming treasure into a full length film. Fans of the epic adventure title everywhere seem to share the same common concern that all gamers possess when adapting gaming franchise’s, and that is whether or not Hollywood will completely destroy the spirit of the game.
Shadow of the Colossus is a game that is all about the journey. Players controlled Wander as he attempted to revive Mono after she was sacrificed for having a “cursed” destiny. Through the first pages, it’s important for newcomers to gain enough knowledge through dialogue, but the rest of the film should remain silent. Josh Trank can potentially use beautiful imagery, a strong artistic direction, and impressive soundtrack to provide moviegoers with a brilliant story that communicates the isolated struggle of Wander.
I won’t pick actors, composers, or cinematographers because I want to see the choices that the fans make. Hopefully, we can all spark a discussion that just might be heard by those behind the film. For now, enjoy my vision for how the Shadow of the Colossus script should read.
