Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain - 9 Big Questions It Should've Answered (But Didn't)

The "missing link" in the MGS saga? Yeah right.

For as much as Metal Gear Solid V was touted to be the "missing link" of the entire saga, bridging timelines and stories to solidify the entire series, the final game actually ended up raising more questions than it answered. Even ones that seemed to be certain bets, promised in the pre-release material or brought up in Ground Zeroes, remain unanswered by the end of The Phantom Pain's sixty hour-plus running time. While fans have since theorised why Kojima's final chapter left so many lingering threads unanswered, it's clear that something went wrong during the production of the fifth instalment. From cut episodes rounding out the arcs of key characters in the main game being nowhere to be found in the final release and modders unearthing a mysterious "Chapter 3" that was seemingly planned at some stage, it's obvious that there was originally far more to The Phantom Pain's story. Unfortunately, that means fans and players alike have been left to ponder what could have been, coming up with their own interpretations of the remaining questions raised. With new details being unearthed in the game every single day, there's a good chance that some of these could end up being answered in the coming weeks. However, until that happens, these are the most infuriating series-spanning questions that The Phantom Pain failed to answer. If there are any answers we're missing, please leave them down in the comments below - otherwise, sharpen that head-scratching finger. We're going in.
