Nintendo NX: 10 Essential Video Games That Must Be Launch Titles

With the Wii U's abject failure, it's safe to say that Nintendo need to come storming out of the gate with their new platform, the Nintendo NX, which will launch in March next year.

Little in the way of concrete information is available about the console - and there's still no date for the official unveiling - but it seems dead certain that Nintendo will be dropping a ton of long-awaited games as launch titles for the platform...whatever it is.

It's a given that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release on day one (bar an unexpected delay), so that won't be included on this list. Instead, we're going to look at classic Nintendo franchises that would give the NX a major sales boost from day one.

Without most of these titles being in the picture at launch, or at least given a launch window release, Nintendo could be dooming the NX to the same fate as their previous console.

Here are 10 games that must be Nintendo NX launch titles...

10. New Super Mario Bros NX

2D Mario has a storied history of outselling 3D Mario, and so it seems decidedly more likely that we'll see a New Super Mario Bros. game at launch rather than a new 3D iteration.

It's a slam dunk, really, considering that the Wii U launched with an entry into the series and it's currently the platform's second-best selling game.

After New Super Mario Bros. U introduced the much-praised Boost Mode (where a second player could use the gamepad to create platforms for the other player), it'll be interesting to see where the currently-unknown nature of the NX's technology takes the franchise.

Either way, it's an incredibly safe bet for launch and is likely to be one of the NX's best selling launch window games.
