Resident Evil HD: 10 Iconic Moments You Need To Revisit

You'll brace for impact every time you enter that hallway.

Unfortunately for fans of the iconic zombie series, Resident Evil 6 wasn't just a bad dream - it's still very, very real. Not so much the catastrophic mess that internet forums the world over deemed it to be, Capcom's most recent entry in the main series fared poorly critically and commercially not because it was necessarily bad; it just wasn't what anyone wanted from a series credited with being the father of survival horror. However, all that matters now is that the original Resident Evil - well, the 2002 GameCube version - now exists on current generation consoles for all to enjoy, and it still holds up as a worthwhile classic in every aspect. The dimly-lit, claustrophobic corridors, antiquated typewriters and less-than-friendly inhabitants are all exactly where they should be. Giant snakes, green-skinned gorillas - and that always-broken doorknob - are the quirks of a virtual home that's weirdly comforting as it is nostalgic, yet it's still equally terrifying. There are so many stand-out moments in the original Resident Evil that even the biggest fan is bound to forget some details, and even if for those that can recite the entire experience from memory, there hasn't been a better time to go back and revisit the best Resi has to offer. Mutants stalkers, mysterious coffins buried in back gardens and murderous inanimate objects; the Spencer mansion has craziness in spades and every bit of it is worth a return visit. Just do yourself a favour. Stay away from the windows...
