Resident Evil HD: 10 Iconic Moments You Need To Revisit
10. What's In The Coffin?
Resident Evil's opening few minutes instantly hammer home the concept that the Spencer mansion isn't exactly home to the most friendly of residents, but aside from the fact that zombies are shuffling about the many, many corridors of the dimly-lit building, you're duped into thinking that this is just some kind of bizarre, virulent outbreak plaguing the home of some very wealthy house owner. After using that infamously hard-to-find golden arrow-head and venturing down below, you find not a cleverly designed basement full of garden tools, but a coffin suspended in the air by four chains accompanied by four murals indirectly goading the player into collecting the four masks it depicts so as to make 'something' happen. As it transpires, there's a pretty nasty zombie contained within the funeral casket, but it's the coffin itself that gives you the first inkling that you're not in any old ordinary house and that this virus leak was certainly no accident.
