Star Wars: Battlefront II - What Does The Ending Really Mean?

8. Hask's Role In The First Order (But Don't Expect Him To Live)

Although both Del and Iden elope together from the Empire, their other comrade in arms, Gideon Hask, is as loyal to the Emperor as anyone could get. So entrenched in his ways, Hask elects to fight alongside the Empire until its capitulation at the Battle of Jakku, before going on to play a key role in the creation of the First Order some three decades later.

We know this is the case because he's right with Kylo when he goes to interrogate Del on Pillio, with his Imperial rank having seemingly carried over to the new regime. Further to that, however, is the fact he's nowhere to be seen by the time The Force Awakens comes around, which greatly diminishes his chance of survival, given Meeko's warning that Iden will come for him.

In any case, it'll be interesting to see just how, exactly, Hask has influenced the First Order since his days as a special forces soldier, especially now that he's spending time with Kylo in the events preceding Episode VII. We know that Gleb also had a part to play, but again, it's great to see so many EU properties incorporating new trilogy elements into their stories.

If anything, all it does is intimate Battlefront's credentials as a key force in the saga going forward. If the DLC is meant to intersect with Episodes VII and VIII as well, then things could get very interesting indeed.
