Why Halo 4's Infinity Will Be Industry Changing Multiplayer

Halo 4's brand new multiplayer system looks to bridge the gap between campaign and multiplayer in a dramatic way, changing the gaming industry as we know it.

As we approach what is likely to be the final Halo game for the Xbox 360, the new caretakers of the franchise, 343 Industries, take a bold step in a new direction. Infinity, Halo 4's brand new multiplayer system looks to bridge the gap between campaign and multiplayer in a dramatic way, changing the gaming industry as we know it.

Infinity

What is Infinity? The UNSC Infinity is actually a starship, the largest ever commissioned by the UNSC (the Earth governing body in the Haloverse), serving as a generational ship for a new breed of super soldiers; the Spartan IVs. The UNSC Infinity crash lands on Requiem shortly after the Chief and Cortana, seemingly being brought down by the Didact, the Supreme Commander of the (thought to be extinct) Forerunner military. As it's early days in the marketing game, we don't know a huge amount about the role that the Infinity will play in the Halo 4 campaign, but it's seemingly going to be a big one. Bear in mind, the Chief and Cortana are drifting apparently on the edge of the Milky Way, and as the Infinity is the only ally they have on that side of the galaxy, I doubt it's going to disappear by the end of the second level. The Infinity is going to play host to everything involved with the multiplayer side of things, it's not just a case of logging on, killing a few Spartans and then logging off. Well it still is, but it means more than that now. Remember we mentioned those Spartan IVs? Well, outside of the campaign, that's what you are. Infinity Multiplayer is divided into two categories known as 'War Games' and 'Spartan Ops', where both of these tie directly into the campaign, in one way or another.
