Xbox One: 10 Brand New Tips, Tricks & Secrets You Must Try

5. Grab An External HDD For Unlimited Storage

External hard drives have gone from being an optional accessory that bolsters the amount of titles you can have on-tap at any point, to a damn-near necessity for current generation gaming. Simply put, the new consoles' internal drives just aren't big enough to hold a decent amount of the latest games, and you'll be deleting something off every time a new title comes out unless you upgrade. Luckily, both consoles let you change their internal drives, but the PS4 drops the ball in only letting you use a USB hard drive for full data backups, rather than treating it like another 'proper' hard drive. On the other hand, the Xbox One ticks this box with a feather-topped quill, as games and apps can be copied across and managed directly, the same way as on the 360. The only two requirements the console needs your kit to match are having more than 256GB of space (I recommend getting a one with a couple of TBs worth), and being equipped with at least a USB 3.0 connection. From there, just hook it up and go to Settings>System>Storage to format it with the Xbox's software and you're good to go.
