Halo no longer on life support....... IT'S DEAD!

1006peter02.jpgWell it's been coming. Since Universal and 20th Century Fox pulled out of financing the Halo movie, the big buget adaptation of one of the world's most famous video games was in real trouble. Now it seems they have been unable to find any studio to take up the picture, mainly because of the reasons cited in an article we posted here last week. Here is the statement from producer Peter Jackson and Wignut Films... "As was previously confirmed, we deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement. At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with their partner, Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans throughout the world that we would settle for no less than bringing a first class film to the big screen"."We are fully supportive of Director Neill Blomkamp's vision of the film. Neill is a tremendously gifted filmmaker and his preliminarywork on Halo is truly awe-inspiring. While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait". Don't be fooled by the statements of the project being halted. It pretty much means it's dead. An example of this is the Batman franchise which had so many false starts and script changes then director and producer changes that it was halted for 8 years. To an outsider, the trouble appears to be with the script and not being able to make it into a managable one both financially and pratically for the studio to be happy with. It's a huge shame because with Peter Jackson on board, it was all looking like the project was going to be epic... what Halo should be. The future for Halo looks pretty dim now, I very much doubt we will see a Halo movie this decade. The project is dead folks, and it's going to be dead for a long time. Maybe if Halo 3 again breaks box office records next year, they might actually get their asses into gear and get this project started again. It seems stupid not to, a well made Halo movie is like printing your own money, whatever the cost to make. source - aintitcoolnews
