10 Most Intriguing Unsolved Murders Of All Time

The most chilling cases in modern history.

Terrifyingly, one in three murders go unsolved in America.

Why? Detectives believe that, despite the advances in forensic technology such as fingerprinting and DNA testing, potential witnesses are failing to come forward and provide the police with vital information that might help them to solve these cases.

Since 1960, more than 200,000 murder cases remain unsolved and as time passes, it is unlikely that the perpetrators will ever be brought to justice. Most of these cases we get to hear about by watching the news or reading the local newspaper, however some don€™t even manage to reach the headlines and some are now so old that they have faded in memory entirely.

Some of the most compelling murder mysteries are revisited in TV shows and movies, preserved forever for their intrigue, but tragically, they will likely remain unsolved in real life...

10. The Grime Sisters

Sisters Barbara (15) and Patricia (13) Grimes left their home on 28 December 1956 and went to their local theatre (Brighton Theatre) to see the Elvis Presley movie Love Me Tender. When they failed to return home by 2.15am their mother, Loretta, reported them missing. On 22 January 1957 Leonard Prescott, a construction worker, found their bodies in a ditch. The cause of their death was never determined, however both bodies were covered in various bruises and Barbara had three puncture wounds to her chest, probably from an ice pick. There were several suspects, but the case still remains unsolved, and was reopened n 2013 by a retired West Chicago Police Officer.
