BREAKING: Chris Nolan’s SUPERMAN… really?

Have Deadline just stumbled across a major piece of the soon to be announced DC Entertainment strategy puzzle? In what is the most exciting news story of 2010 so far - Chris Nolan has been asked to play "Godfather" to a new Superman movie at Warner Bros, a character that has been grounded for the past 3 and a half years. The movie would be a fresh take on Superman, a complete reboot. Warner Bros. basically want Nolan to do to Superman what he did to the dormant Batman franchise during the early years of the last decade which eventually resulted in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and his up and coming third movie, which most expect him to begin work on post-July. Although Deadline suggest WB haven't offered Nolan the chance to write or direct the project and it's a bit ambiguous right now as the extent of Nolan's role - you have to think that the studio will offer him the directing gig, and give him the challenge to do something with Superman. He will probably decline but they have to ask him. Will Nolan make Superman significant again? Then what about Nolan's Batman and Nolan's Superman in the same universe. Wow - so much to think about.
