10 Most Anticipated Metal Albums Of 2018

9. VIMIC – Open Your Omen

In mid-2016, ex-Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison mounted the comeback of a lifetime, bouncing back from three years of musical inactivity. Making up for lost time, upon his return Jordison confirmed that he had formed not one, but two new bands: the black/death metal stalwarts Sinsaenum and the melodic metalcore upstarts VIMIC.

While Sinsaenum released its debut, Echoes of the Tortured, in July of 2016 – almost eighteen months down the line – VIMIC have yet to release their first full-length. That is all set to change this coming spring, which is the target that the band have set for Open Your Omen.

If VIMIC’s prior singles are anything to go by, then it’s safe to assume that the popular outfit’s first step will be one jam-packed with meaty melodies and low-tuned guitar riffage. The icing on the thrashing cake came in October when a snippet from the album entitled “Fail Me (My Temple)” saw the light of day, the raucous single featuring a guest guitar solo from Megadeth giant Dave Mustaine, who is also mixing the track’s parent album.

“This album wails!” Mustaine has been quoted as saying about VIMIC’s first record.

And based on the evidence we’ve seen so far, it looks like it’s going to be hard to disagree.
