15 Best Guitar Solos Of The 2000s

2. Velvet Revolver - Slither

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vmvwEf3EdU Besides having one of the most killer riffs ol' Slasher ever put down, the lead into this solo is one of the best pace-builders you're ever likely to hear. With Matt Sorum's drums padding out the cat-about-to-strike nature of the composition, the soundscape gradually empties out, as suddenly Slash's signature bend comes slamming in through the abyss, wah-pedalled up for good measure, and continues to hold you with that series of bends, before Slash just lets rip on one of his many picking patterns the likes of which was made uber-famous through yesteryear's biggest anthem Sweet Child O' Mine. As with Stricken, it's all about the 'feel' of the solo, coupled with Slash's phenomenal identity on the guitar that makes the entire section come to life with a vibrant-yet-sleazy personality. Although nearly anything Slash puts his name to, from his solo album that saw him take to more metal routes with the help of M. Shadows, or his latest work with the flawless Myles Kennedy, it's Slither that stands out as one of the most well-remembered and instantly enjoyable compositions The Man In The Hat has recorded this side of Guns n' Roses.
