3. Disturbed - Stricken
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3moLkjvhEu0 As many have probably scoffed at Disturbed/David Draiman's inclusion on this list, due to them often being criticised for progressing very little across their 15 year career in terms of composition of musicianship, they definitely hit the sweet spot with their 2005 masterpiece Ten Thousand Fists. It's an album that writhes and pulsates with energy, spawning the certifiably "OH MAN IT'S THIS SONG" reaction should Stricken drop anywhere in your local vicinity. The solo of which has everything. From Draiman's pre-solo lyric "Into the abyss will I run" which segues into Dan Donegan's hefty string-abuse, the little nuances of guys like Slash and Dave Mustaine in his bending and hammer-on-pull-off patterns respectively, it all ties together in a production that really makes his tone scream, commanding repeat listens and forevermore being a staple of the Disturbed live set for decades to come (or when they resume their career anyway). Technically there are a wealth of progressions and patterns that would be harder or more complicated to pull off, but for all-round "Hells YES" reactions, Stricken's solo is the full package.
