20 Most Underrated Nu-Metal Anthems

11. Ill Nino – God Save Us

Even though it was arguably the best of the three singles released from 2001’s Revolution Revolución, Ill Nino’s ‘God Save Us’ was the least successful of the trio of songs. Shame too, because it rocks really hard.

It’s got a bit of everything, delivering the low-end blows synonymous with the musical style, as well as letting up for a softer, more melodic chorus. Major props go to frantic frontman Christian Machado for giving the song some serious heat by growling, squealing, rapping and everything in between. By the time the ridiculously heavy outro drops, you’ll be sold.

Sure it follows the typical nu-metal formula – downtuned guitars, DJ scratching, and hellish howls – but ‘God Save Us’ is a perfectly fine representation of the sub-genre’s groove-centric core. And with its Latin metal elements in the mix, the song provides an exotic flavor too.
