25 Greatest Muse Songs Of All Time

13. Exogenesis : Symphony Pt 3 : Redemption

http://youtu.be/e4EqjvnWfRM The 'Exogenesis' symphony was one that Matt had been working on for years, and had caused feverish speculation amongst Muse's many fans. The band had always shown a classical edge, with Matt's piano expertise forming the backbone of many classics on this list. When the piece finally showed up on 'The Resistance' it inevitably didn't quite live up to the sky-high expectations, but it ended on a high. The third movement, 'Redemption' had a gorgeous string section, and paired with a lovely pulsing piano and light snare this was the perfect ending to a decidely mixed album. The lyrical theme of humanity begging for one last chance to treat their planet right really shone through, with Matt pleading "we'll get it right", and "it's our last chance to forgive ourselves." Really, this was like the sun breaking out after a stormy night, and if Muse return with a seventh album, one can only hope for more classical experiements. Broken into small chunks like this, Muse do a stunning job.

12. Hate This And I'll Love You

http://youtu.be/gGn5mQVu7oI While 'Showbiz' was undoubtedly a stunning achievement for a debut album, and if released today by a new band would cause the indie rock community to go nuts, most of it doesn't compare to later work. The songwriting was still finding its feet, although many songs only just miss out on this list. 'Sunburn' for example, would probably make number 26. As for this closing track of 'Showbiz' I feel it is the one track that foreshadows what's truly coming on 'Origin' and 'Absolution'. The lyric "I'm getting strong in every way" couldn't be more right. The crickets that open the song suggest a relaxing end to a tempestuous album, and the slow guitar riff also suggests calm, but Matt really lets rip on the chorus, and Dom's drumming on this is fantastic. This may seem quite high, particularly in the place of other 'Showbiz' tracks, but what is your favourite from Muse's debut?
