Another 6 Things You Should Be Listening To Right Now

2. The Antlers

indie/folk/dream pop

The brainchild of singer/guitarist Peter Silberman; The Antlers initially began life as a solo project back in 2006 with Silberman writing both the debut Uprooted and its follow-up In The Attic of the Universe entirely himself. However, it was after The Antlers became a collaborative group with the recruitment of Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci that waves were really made.

Quickly releasing two EPs in the shape of Cold War and New York Hospitals, the now band quickly gathered a following and built upon the groundwork already laid down by Silberman with the first two albums. On the back of those EPs the band self-released Hospice. An astounding concept album based around an abusing relationship through the analogy of a Hospice worker and a terminally-ill patient. Which lead to a lot speculation on the inspiration behind said concept.

With that album selling out of all stock the band had, The Antlers have been a quietly rising force within the independent music scene, and with songs, EPs and albums as deeply emotive and affecting as they have it€™s not surprise. This year sees them release a new EP in the shape of Undersea, which is as likely to blend indie, folk, dream pop, shoegaze and post-rock as beautifully as the rest of their output.
