Another 6 Things You Should Be Listening To Right Now

3. The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die

emo/indie/post-rock

In keeping with the theme of solo acts gone collective The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die (I€™ll be abbreviating from here on out) started life in a very similar fashion. Founding members Derrick Shanholtzer and Thomas Diaz originally began their musical careers as individual solo acts, who sometimes gigged together. This inevitably lead to more collaborative performances and eventually the formation of a group.

Since that formation back in 2009 the band has gone through a number of line up changes, but Shanholtzer and Diaz have always remained as the driving creative force behind TWiaBP&IaNLAtD (as acronyms go that€™s still pretty fucking long). In that time the band have got a demo, two EPs and a split LP (with Deer Leap) under their belt and now settled on an entirely collaborative six piece line up.

Utilizing a heady mix of heavily effected and layered guitars alongside synth, brass and a trio of vocalists the band conjure up a rich and textured sound that touches upon a variety of genres from old school late 90s/early 00s emo and post-hardcore by way of a very modern indie/alternative/punk sound with a penchant post-rock and experimental pop.
