11 Most Bizarre Zoo Accidents

2. Wolves Strip Woman Naked And Maul Her To Death (Ontario, 1996)

In one of the most surreal accidents to occur at a zoo anywhere in the world, wildlife biologist Trisha Wyman was stripped naked by wolves and then killed at the Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Preserve in Ontario, Canada, in April 1996. Ms Wyman, who was caretaker of four animals in the enclosure, was reporting to work for just the third time when she was killed by four captive wolves. Her body was found by two Wolf Centre employees, who spotted her naked corpse in the middle of the enclosure. Despite the fact all of her clothes had been completely ripped from her skin and been left strewn beside her, Ms Wyman's body remained also completely intact - bar for multiple bite wounds and small bits of flesh which had been torn away. An investigation after the death determined that the caretaker has probably been encircled by the four wolves, before she accidentally tripped on a broken branch and was attacked by the predatory beasts once they smelled her blood. All four wolves were put to death for fear of rabies, although it was later discovered none of them actually had the disease.
