17. Waiting

Patience is the key to excelling at the artistry that is pizza delivery driving. You have to wait in traffic; wait for people to answer the door; wait for people to find their conveniently missing purse; wait for the chefs to give you the all clear to go; wait around in the shop till closing time on a Tuesday when no one wants pizza that close to midnight... You may find this hard to believe in a job that has very tight deadlines as such, but it's true. When it's busy, it's frantic, when it's quiet, patience is the key. There's a lot of waiting to be done.
