10 Football Records That Will Never Be Broken

9. Biggest International Scoreline

Cross Farm's 11-2 scoreline may have been a bit one-sided, but it has nothing on Australia's win over American Samoa during a World Cup qualifier in 2001.

The Socceroos - not famous for being such a clinical side - ran out 31-0 winners at the International Sports Stadium in Coffs Harbour. Archie Thompson set another record that day scoring 15 goals as his side inflicted misery onto the minnows.

With such a ludicrous scoreline, many claimed that the format for qualification needed revised in order to avoid such mismatches, and their thoughts were listened to as FIFA introduced preliminary rounds in the Oceanian zone qualification for the 2006 qualifiers. However, the 3,000 fans in attendance would have certainly felt like they had got their money's worth in entertainment at this fixture.

Luckily for head coach Frank Farina, Football Federation Australia weren't as strict as Spanish youth side Serrano B. After their under-11 side ran out 25-0 winners, their coach was giving his marching orders for 'not respecting their opponents'.
