Another 36-year-old keeper, Australia's Brad Jones has been capped 5 times for his country and is the nation's backup keeper, just behind Brighton's Mathew Ryan. This means that Jones, formerly of Liverpool and Middlesbrough, might not make a single appearance at the World Cup, but remains a solid option for the Socceroos, if needed.

He never quite made it at Liverpool but has always been regarded as a solid keeper and has just come off the back off a decent season with Dutch side Feyenoord, in which he was the club's number one.

Despite never appearing at a World Cup before, Jones has some personal history in relation to the tournament. He was selected for Australia's 2010 squad but had to pull out after learning that his young son had tragically been diagnosed with leukaemia. Jones' son, Luca, sadly passed away a year later, and it will surely mean a lot to the Aussie stopper to attend the tournament for the first time in his career.
