20 Best Rangers Players Of The Modern Era

From Ally McCoist to Kris Boyd, who was the best?

Glasgow Rangers are one of the most consistently successful football clubs in the world, earning the distinction of being the team that has won the most trophies (117) as of 2015. Ever since going into administration in 2012, honours have admittedly dried up, but with the renewed excitement over the appointment of Mark Warburton as the new manager, Rangers fans hope their team can get back to winning ways as quickly as possible. For the purpose of this article, the "modern era" beams all the way back to the 80's, existing right up until present day. That is the only criteria governing the players chosen on this list, those who have been amongst the biggest and best that Rangers have had to shout about. There will be omissions, of course, given the criteria. In addition, it's important to look back to players who helped shape Glasgow Rangers into a modern-day wonder, such as John Greig, Sandy Jardine, Derek Johnstone, and even earlier pioneers such as Moses McNeil, Alan Morton and Ralph Brand. These men deserve to be mentioned as great Rangers, but with that in mind, who have been the standouts since the mid-to-late-1980's, capturing the hearts of the Ibrox supporters and making memories that will surely last forever?
