The past few years haven't really bee kind to fans of Rangers, because there hasn't really been a whole load to shout about for followers. In the Summer of 2012, liquidation of the club's business holdings forced the rest of Scottish football to - rather crudely - sharpen their knives. Smelling blood, pretty much every other team voted Rangers out of the then Scottish Premier League. Forced to reapply for membership into the Scottish game, Rangers found themselves facing the prospect of competing in the bottom tier, the old Third Division. All but a few players elected to stay at the institution, which meant the Gers had a bare bones squad. Amongst those who did stay was new captain Lee McCulloch, who served the club admirably from 2007-2015. The man's final season in 2014-2015 wasn't the best, let's be honest, but he decided to stay on and work for his boyhood heroes when so many rats deserted what looked like a sinking ship. There was a real pride in McCulloch's voice when he spoke about Rangers, and his loyalty deserves mention, even if there were reservations over his £17k per week wage.
