4 Shocking Upsets From UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story

No one saw this coming.

The Swedish crowd was silenced throughout the main card. No one saw this coming. What happened at UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story was almost unthinkable heading into the event: every single local favourite, several given arguably "easy" or at least winnable match-ups, lost. That's right: all four fights on the four fight main card of UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story ended in upset. It was an unbelievable turn of events, and each time out, the crowd in Sweden went quiet at the end. It's not at all what the local fans wanted to see, but don't think for a second that it wasn't an exciting night of action. In fact, unlike with many of the cards set up in Brazil, where Brazilian fighters routinely come out on top, the Swedish card having so many upsets actually made things more entertaining. The fact that we were surprised - that we can still be surprised - was itself the biggest lesson learned from the event. Other than, maybe, that the UFC has rushed Icelandic star Gunnar Nelson to headliner status. He'll probably get a step back in competition now, and the UFC would be wise to take things slow with him, but really, he shouldn't have been headlining in the first place. Team mate Conor McGregor is at that level. Nelson just isn't there as of yet. So what exactly happened, how did things all manage to stray so far from what most pundits expected? Well, lets take a look a the four shocking upsets that make up the bulk of the main card of UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story.
