5 Heroes & Villains From NUFC 1-1 West Brom

Ayoze Perez saved Newcastle United's skin - but Ryan Taylor had a horror show.

Newcastle United claimed a point on Saturday. Let's repeat that - Newcastle United claimed a point on Saturday. For the first time since February 28th, the Magpies managed to add to their 35-point tally. Ayoze Perez's magnificently-taken equaliser cancelled out Victor Anichebe's opener to secure a 1-1 draw for Newcastle against West Bromwich Albion at St James' Park on Saturday. The result not only ensured the Magpies remain two points clear of the relegation zone with two games remaining, it also ended their club-record run of eight-straight Premier League defeats. Unfortunately for Newcastle, Hull City's 1-0 home loss to Burnley and Queens Park Rangers' 6-0 thumping at Manchester City were the only other results to go their way - meaning they now sit 17th in the Premier League. Leicester City picked up yet another three points (2-0 against Southampton), Aston Villa beat West Ham United 1-0 at home, while Sunderland earned a vital smash-and-grab 2-0 victory against Everton. However, as Magpies interim head coach John Carver pointed out following Saturday's match at St James' Park, Newcastle must focus on their own results. Certain players really stood up and were counted against the Baggies, while a few failed to meet the heights needed in order to ensure Newcastle's Premier League survival. So here are five NUFC heroes - and five villains - from Newcastle United's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
