5 Incredible Looking Upcoming World Football Stadiums

Picture 56 These days it seems like there's always a new stadium being built or planned in some corner of the world, and why not? It increases the likelihood of securing an Olympic/World Cup bid, it puts jobs on the table, and most importantly it drives the fans nuts as they get a chance to partake in something new and exciting. But what makes a really impressive stadium? For some, it's the architecture; others, the location. Even more aren't satisfied with a stadium, as they really want that Olympic gold. (Those are the types that build entire athletic parks.) Whatever the reasoning may be, there are tons of stadiums set to open between now and 2014; and here are five of the most impressive.

Arena Pantanal - Brazil

With a capacity of 42,500 fans, the Arena Pantanal is one of several Brazilian stadiums being built for their 2014 FIFA World Cup festivities. Scheduled to already be open, the facilities are to include, "a park, a small lake, restaurants, playgrounds, and other leisure facilities". Also of note, the four corners of the stadium are areas filled with trees, plants, and other foliage; as an effort towards ecological sustainability. This will be the home base for football club Mixto EC, but naturally it may attract more clubs after its World Cup showcase in a couple of years.
