5 Reasons Louis van Gaal Might Not Save Man Utd

Manchester United confirmed the signing of Louis van Gaal as their new manager this afternoon. Currently managing Holland, van Gaal will take control at Old Trafford after World Cup 2014. He was first linked with the Man United job when then-manager Sir Alex Ferguson was set to retire in 2002, only for Ferguson to have a last minute change of heart. The Dutchman now finds himself tasked with rebuilding the squad following the disastrous tenure of David Moyes, which saw the club suffer an ignominous fall to seventh place after winning the league the preceding year. Is van Gaal the right man to lead United back to the top? A glance over his CV certainly suggests good things, with him having won virtually everything there is to win at club level during his tenures with Ajax, Barcelona, AZ Alkmaar and Bayern Munchen. He plays the kind of attacking football which the Old Trafford crowd appreciates, has an excellent history of team building and will have club veteran Ryan Giggs as his assistant. Yet for all van Gaal's merits, there are also a number of questions which deserve to be raised after a closer look at his management history. Here are my 5 reasons why van Gaal might not be the right man to save United.
