5 Reasons Spurs Can Win The Title Next Season

At the start of this season, following a summer of spending in which Spurs broke their transfer record no less than three times with the signings of Paulinho, Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela, some people were touting Spurs for a title push. In addition to the aforementioned trio, the Lilywhites also purchased Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches and Christian Eriksen - an influx of talent that, in total, made seven full internationals (and all at top international teams). However, this morale-boosting spending spree was overwhelmingly offset by the world record sale of, by far, Tottenham's best player last season - and arguably one of the best players on the planet - Gareth Bale. Spurs also sold Clint Dempsey, Tom Huddlestone, Steven Caulker and Scott Parker, as well as letting Jake Livermore, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Tom Carroll leave on loan. That, combined with the inevitable transition period of the new signings, meant that a title push would be tough, regardless of the pressure and expectation of spending so much on new acquisitions. The dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas in December, and subsequent appointment of the club's former player and Technical Director Tim Sherwood, meant that yet another period of transition was required - although this one seems to have been weathered more efficiently. Consequently, Spurs currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League after twenty-six games (twelve to go). They are three points behind fourth placed Liverpool and seven points behind top club Chelsea. Although the title is by no means completely out of reach, it seems unlikely, and a Champions League place should be the club's main aim. However, the reasons to be positive are plentiful around the White Hart Lane club. All the signs are great for the future and next season could genuinely be the one in which Spurs come in to their own and challenge at the very top of the English Premier League. Here are five reasons why Spurs can win the Premier League title next season...
