Arsenal Transfer News: Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye To Emirates?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger plotting swoop for Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye?

Daily Star Sunday. The Gunners were thought to be interested in the Frenchman, 26, last summer but were eventually scared away by Newcastle's £20 million valuation of the player. Wenger however remains an admirer of his countryman and with Theo Walcott likely switching to a forward role at the club, the Gunners are going to need more creativity in midfield. However Cabaye, who has not played a game since November 11th, is ruled out until February after undergoing groin surgery, leaving Wenger to weigh up if making a move in January is really the smart option. He could opt to wait until next Summer and make his move for him then, but by then Cabaye will have played half a season and his valuation could potentially have increased. Meanwhile, Wenger is also said to be keen on another Newcastle star - Demba Ba. The Senegalese frontman scored twice against Arsenal last night in an incredible 7-3 win for the Gunners, which might well have impressed Wenger. However, the Frenchman has reportedly insisted he will not be triggering the £7.5 million release clause in the forwards contract at St James.
