Arsenal Transfers: 10 Players Wenger Must Buy To Catch City
10 players Wenger MUST consider buying this summer if they are to have any chance in catching Premier League champions Manchester City.
Despite playing the best football in the land on a consistent basis and Arsene Wenger managing to time and time again find obscure gems across Europe who turn into global superstars, Arsenal have not won a trophy since 2004. Eight years of hurt for The Gunners who just a few years before they last won silverware were unbeatable in the land, dubbed "The Invincibles" for their astonishing feat of going the whole season without suffering a loss. This dark period for Arsenal has gone on for so long now that every new season starts with the same soundtrack - fans voicing their disgust at Wenger's lack of ambition in the transfer market and his unwillingness to change his philosophy about not spending to keep up with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United who look to move further away from Arsenal with every passing year. If the last campaign wasn't a warning to Arsenal with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United running them close (on the last day of the season, they could have been pipped to the post by both teams and finished fifth) then we really don't know what it will take for Wenger to change his ways. Perhaps it already has. This summer has seen the North London side look more busier than usual, signing Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Carzola and with the promise of more on the way. But it is clear three signings is not enough, especially if Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott are to leave this summer. Here's 10 players Wenger MUST consider buying this summer if they are to have any chance in catching Premier League champions Manchester City.
