Can Harry Kane Succeed At Spurs?

Tottenham Hotspur academy product Harry Kane has made a turbulent start to his professional career at White Hart Lane. Kane made his first senior appearance for the White Hart Lane club back in 2011 when, as an 18 year old, he started in a Europa League match at home to Scottish club Hearts. Prior to that game, Kane had played on loan at Leyton Orient and has since been on loan to Millwall, Leicester City and Norwich City - slowly making his way upwards in terms of quality - and has seen game time at Spurs hard to come by, given that the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Jermain Defoe and Roberto Soldado have all been in front of him in the pecking order (and when he has been given chances in the past, he hasn't exactly shone). Now approaching 21, it's now or never for Kane, as he is beyond the age where youth can consistently be used as an excuse for under-performing in the first team. Following Jermain Defoe's recent move to Toronto FC in the MLS, Kane suddenly found himself as the Lilywhites' third choice striker and, after a recent injury to Roberto Soldado, he found himself starting alongside Emmanuel Adebayor at home to Sunderland in the Premier League. Kane grasped this opportunity with both hands - netting his first Premier League goal and playing a part in another in a 5-1 win. Kane himself is optimistic that he can continue this form if he is given more opportunities, telling Sky Sports the following:
I've been waiting for the opportunity to get the start. It was great to get the goal and hopefully I can push on and get a few more. If you can do it in the Premier League you can do it pretty much anywhere. Hopefully I will get a few more chances and a few more goals.
But the question is, can Harry Kane actually succeed at Spurs or has his opportunity to truly stake a claim for a first team place in the long-term been and gone? Feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments box below. And please feel free to follow me on Twitter!
