His comments will have lost the dressing room. That's if he hadn't already, which could have been the case considering Daryl Janmaat's refusal to acknowledge his gaffer after his own dismissal. There were so many more glaringly worrying problems that took place during the game that far surpassed Willo's red card. In all honesty, the way the former Portsmouth man has played over the last year or so arguably means his sending off is a blessing for The Magpies as he won't be able to blunder his way through either of the next two games. Being backed into such a corner by his manager in public has resulted in an apology from Williamson. What else did you expect? There's nothing else he could have done. Now Carver should do the same thing to Willo, after hanging out his very own personal scapegoat to dry. The way Geordie John picked on the most vulnerable member of his squad was nothing short of a disgrace and showed the measure of the man. The Head Coach is the biggest coward in the dressing room. And that is some achievement considering the fact we are currently witnessing the worst Newcastle United side of the last 40 years, and potentially the history of the club if they lose their remaining games. Carver isolated Williamson and tried to create a story where there arguably wasn't one, deflecting any attention away from all of his own shortcomings in team selection and tactics at the KP. Yes Willo's sending off was stupid, but to insinuate a professional footballer tried to get sent off on purpose is slanderous and way below the belt for a man in Carver's position. Where was his criticism for international footballer Daryl Janmaat? His dismissal was just as brainless as Mike's. Maybe the right back's standing in the eyes of the Newcastle fans meant Carver held fire on the Dutchman and forced him to pick on a player that he knows isn't well liked in the terraces. He isn't THAT stupid. Even though the team's performances since January suggest he isn't capable of running a bath. The way that Carver portrays himself as one of the fans is one of the many reasons that he shouldn't be in the job. You need to have more about you when trying to hold down such a privileged position. Wearing you heart on your sleeve and trying to relate to a fan base won't wash when you're proving that you're so woefully short in so many other areas.
