Liverpool Transfer News: Pepe Reina Hints He Wants To Move To A Bigger Club

Sun, Liverpool€™s Pepe Reina has hinted he wants to move to a bigger club than Liverpool, putting the future of goalkeeper in real doubt. Reina has been part of the Liverpool squad for eight years but has shocked fans by hinting he wants a new challenge. The 30-year-old did confirm he is still at happy at Anfield but explained that a bigger challenge would be of interest to him:

€œI€™m very happy and satisfied at Liverpool. But of course if I€™m given the chance to improve and go to a bigger club, and now there are a few bigger than Liverpool, I€™m sure the club would understand.€
Reina was part of the Liverpool side that won the 2007 Champions League final but with the club constantly failing to get back into the top four, the keeper is unhappy at the direction the club is heading and feels it would be hard to turn down a bigger club. The Spaniard, who was brought up through Barcelona€™s youth team, has established himself as a key player for the club and has been Liverpool's number one for several years. Reina played 31 games last season with Bradley Jones in second place with just seven appearances proving just how much The Reds rely on the experienced keeper. With Arsenal and Barcelona both interested in the goalkeeper, Reina would be given Champions League football whether he joined The Gunners or jetted back to the Nou Camp. Reina signed for Liverpool from Villarreal back in 2005 for an undisclosed fee, but eight years later it is unclear just how much Brendan Rodgers would want for his key number one. Liverpool would be forced to replace Reina as soon as he left the club but with Real Madrid€™s Iker Casillas unhappy at his club, Liverpool could swap one Spanish goalkeeper for another. But rather more pertinently, the club have also been linked with Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet who could be a potential replacement, after reportedly having an £11million bid accepted yesterday. Should Liverpool allow Reina to move on? Share your thoughts below.
