Liverpool Transfers: Daniel Sturridge Signing Could Spell End for Liverpool Trio

2. Andy Carroll

The £35 million flop is clearly not wanted - or needed - by Mr. Rodgers and was dispatched to West Ham on a season long loan move in August. The move was heavily criticised by journalists and fans alike as Liverpool failed to bring in a replacement. But now it seems the problem of not having enough strikers is solved. Liverpool have Suarez, Borini and Sturridge all on the books and probably have enough depth to bid Carroll farewell. What's more, it seems evident that Carroll doesn't fit into the way that Rodgers likes to play. He is actually quite a competent player with the ball at his feet, but with such a player on the pitch, the temptation to lump a long ball into the penalty box might creep in; especially with hollywood-ball-man Steven Gerrard in the team. This kind of play would contradict almost every part of the Brendan Rodgers 'philosophy'. Surely, if an offer for Carroll did come in, Liverpool would jump at the chance to sell him. The money they could receive from the sale of Carroll would prove to be valuable funds for Brendan Rodgers. It would undoubtedly fuel more transfer activity; however, they would be stupid to expect to recover even a small fraction of the humongous fee they paid for him.
