Man Ud Transfers: 5 Players Louis Van Gaal Could Sign To Break British Record

Man Utd boss has been told he can break the British transfer record this summer.

Manchester United chief-executive Ed Woodward has made yet another bold announcement this week, by insisting the 2012-13 Premier League champions can break the British transfer record this summer. No player on the market is too expensive, according to Woodward, and United could eclipse the £50 million Chelsea paid Liverpool for Fernando Torres in 2011. This isn€™t the first time this week that Woodward has hinted at the Red Devil€™s apparently-unlimited transfer warchest, with the 42-year-old saying on Monday that manager Louis van Gaal €œhas no fixed transfer budget€ when it comes to buying players during the current transfer market. And he today reiterated:
€œI stand by what I said €“ there is no budget. We are in a very strong financial position. We can make big signings. Whether it€™s a record or not doesn€™t really resonate with us. What resonates is an elite player that the manager wants who is going to be a star for Manchester United.€
United endured a disastrous summer in the transfer window 12 months ago, missing out on the majority of their prime targets and signing only Marouane Fellaini from Everton on deadline day. So fans will be relieved to know that the club don€™t intend to make the same mistakes again, and that money is no objective in bringing the world€™s best players to the Theatre of Dreams. With that in mind, here we take a look at X players Louis Van Gaal could sign to break the £50 million British transfer record. Click €˜next€™ to get started.
