Man Utd Enduring Their Worst Start In 24 Years

After a 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion this week, Manchester United manager David Moyes was informed it was the worst start the side have made since the 1989/90 season. The Premier League holders have seven points from their first six league games, and have already been defeated by Liverpool (1-0), Manchester City (4-1), and West Brom (2-1) this season. Moyes insists he can turn the club around, but their dismal start is a worry for many who were backing the side to retain the Premier League crown - as United are currently eight points off first-placed Arsenal. A number of longer-serving Manchester United players have been at fault early on this season, and their poor showings may give Moyes pause for thought whether they can re-find their form or if they need to be replaced - most notably, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Nani, Anderson, and Michael Carrick. Underperforming personnel and questionable squad selections have been a common theme early on into Moyes' reign, and the growing pressure on his shoulders won't help the sombre mood in the camp. The last time the Lancashire outfit were in this situation they finished the season in 13th place - with rivals Manchester City in 14th. While the likelihood of such an occurrence happening again is extremely low, supporters are still worried the former Everton boss is out of his depth with a club of such stature. David Moyes' Record at Man Utd: Played: 9 Won: 5 Drawn: 1 Lost: 3 Goals For: 15 Goals Against: 10 As Moyes is only nine games in, it would suggest it's far too early to talk about his removal. However, if things fail to improve, he'll start to lose the fans, and potentially the dressing room.
