3. Leighton Baines
Along with a new central midfielder, United also need a new left back. Patrice Evra isn't exactly getting any younger while the jury is still out on Alexander Buttner, who in fairness has had only limited opportunities to prove himself during his debut season at the club. United have been
tracking Everton's £15 million-rated left back Leighton Baines for some time now, and his signing could become all the more likely were Moyes to move to Manchester. Considered one of the best left backs in the division, Baines has been instrumental to the Toffees for the last few seasons and would be similarly important to Manchester United, who, as well as thinking about a future without Ferguson, also have to think of a future without Evra.
